February

What a month.

January was the month of hibernation. The month where I sat and came up with all sorts of ideas, some great and some….meh.

But February? This is the month where I get to put all my ideas into action. Believe it or not, February is the start of the growing season! Looking outside it doesn’t seem like it but pretty much everything starts now. It’s when all of January’s ideas come to fruition. It’s when I start to wish for more hours in a day and more days in the week. It’s when I check the weather daily and see what I am able to get done outside or see if it’s an indoor project kind of day.

It’s when baby chicks hatch or get delivered. It’s when I seed onions and asparagus and pansies. It’s when I trade winter boots for muck boots. It’s when I chastise myself for not getting all my running around done in January for bags of potting soil and chick starter feed and grow lights.

It’s a chaotic month.

But I love it. I love the thought of what the garden will look like this year. I love thinking of ways to improve and grow. And I love being able to share these thoughts and projects with you guys. I’m a bounce ball and I’m winging it most of the time but sometimes my January ideas hit just right in February! In the past I’ve taught wreath making classes and this spring I have added a cool new class! How to create living wall art. We’ve added to our flock as well as many of my year old chickens will head to new temporary homes with the Chicken Rental program. So there’s lots to do this month for sure. And I want to stay ahead of the game before March gets here and all of my FEBRUARY ideas need attention! LOL Hmmmmmm what more could I possible come up with?

Guess we all will have to wait and see. In the meantime, I’m off to order seed potatoes, run a delivery of microgreens, schedule a tune up for the riding lawn mower and research meat birds. :)
